About
Alyssa Manansala is an essayist, poet, editor, and scholar from San Francisco. She earned her MFA in Creative Writing from California Institute of the Arts, where she taught classes in Asian American and postcolonial studies as a Teaching Fellow for the School of Critical Studies. She was a featured artist in the 2017 APAture Festival's Literary Art Showcase; a 2018 fellow of the Interdisciplinary Writers Workshop for Emerging Writers of Color, hosted by Kearny Street Workshop and the Asian Art Museum; a 2018/2019 REEF/MakerC City LA Artist Resident, and an editorial assistant for Sublevel Magazine's inaugural issue, "Contagion," edited by Janice Lee and Maggie Nelson. Her writing can be found in Tayo Literary Magazine, Hyphen Magazine, Nat. Brut, Agape: A Journal of Literary Good Will, among others. She is currently a PhD student in American Studies at Brown University.
